Personal loss hurts.
Losing a friend
Losing a family member
It reminds us of the important things in life.
But why does personal loss cause us to think about how we show up for our wives and kids?
Losing someone is hard
Living a life where you are unintentionally with your time invested in your kids and family?
It’s deadly in the long term.
How do we show up when it counts?
By being present in every pivotal parenting moment.
Here are 3 ways to connect on a deeper level:
#1: Spending alone time
Take the time to spend alone time with your child - away from mobile devices - and just talk. Seems like a simple thing.
However, we often struggle to set aside the time.
Start now.
#2: Speaking affirmations constantly
Yes, your actions are important but so are the words we express.
Tell them constantly how they're doing and encourage them often.
Cement this in their minds because it is extremely important.
#3: Eating together
Do this at least once a week.
Start at home by cutting all devices and asking about each other's interests.
Take the time to learn something new about those you admire the most.
We will never be perfect.
But we can fight to be present 90% of the time.
Our families need us to give them everything we have.
Let’s improve our family dynamic.
See you next week Dad.
